USEF/USDF Emerging Athlete Program Members Attended 2023 USOPC Training Camp
Last year, four USEF/USDF Emerging Athlete Program members attended a four-day training camp at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo. Ellanor Boehning (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.), Tiggy Gates (Encinitas, Calif.), Erin Nichols (Yorba Linda, Calif.), and Christian Simonson (Ventura, Calif.) stayed on site with U.S. athletes from other sports and attended sessions focusing on physical training, nutrition, and support available from the USOPC for U.S. athletes in national governing body programs.

Gold Shines Bright for Team USA at Santiago 2023 Pan American Games

Christian Simonson, on America’s Pan American Games Gold Medal Team, to Compete Fleau de Baian Developed by Adelinde Cornelissen
Christian Simonson, the 2023 FEI Rising Star and on America’s Pan American Games gold medal team, will compete Fleau de Baian, the 13-year-old stallion that Adelinde Cornelissen developed from a youngster to a Dutch team horse.
The 21-year-old Christian described the KWPN stallion (Jazz x Ulft) “as the sweetest stallion ever and has so much try in him I feel extremely honored to ride him.” -

Adelinde Cornelissen’s Grand Prix horse Fleau de Baian has been sold to the U.S.A. The 13-year old Dutch warmblood stallion found a new owner in Florida.

U.S. Dressage Team Jumps to Lead After Day One of Team Competition at Santiago 2023
Santiago, Chile – The U.S. Dressage Team currently holds first place on a team total of 224.338 after the first day of dressage concluded at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, with tomorrow’s competition set to determine team medals. Brazil is currently in second on a 221.151, with Canada in third on a 214.277. With both Small and Large tour combinations competing, scoring for Large Tour combinations adds three points to their final percentage as part of the championship format. Intermediate I and Grand Prix Special competition will begin at 10:00 a.m. ET tomorrow.

Christian Simonson Wins the 2023 U.S. Small Tour Championships
Christian Simonson and the Danish warmblood Son of a Lady became the Small Tour Champions at the 2023 U.S. Dressage Championships at Lamplight equestrian centre in Wayne, ILL. The pair won the first two rounds and placed second in the freestyle.

In the face of sweltering temperatures and stiff competition in the Neue Schule/USEF Intermediaire I Dressage National Championship, Christian Simonson and Son Of A Lady kept their cool today to earn the national championship title with a score of 73.26%.

U.S. Dressage Young Rider Team Clinches Strong Individual Results at Future Champions CDIOY Hagen
One who attracted attention is Christian Simonson, the 20-year-old busy making a name for himself not only in the Under 25 category, but in open classes as well. He’s got the ability, he’s got the horses and most important, he’s got the work ethic. His dedication is paying off in many ways. In January, the U.S. Equestrian Team Foundation presented him with its Lionel Guerrand-Hermès Trophy, given to a junior or young rider in an Olympic discipline who exemplifies the Team’s ideals of sportsmanship and horsemanship.

U.S. Dressage Young Rider Team Earns Bronze at Future Champions CDIOY Hagen Nations Cup
The U.S. Dressage Young Rider Team had a solid performance in the Future Champions CDIOY Hagen Nations Cup among a talented group of European competitors. Chef d’Equipe George Williams guided Kat Fuqua and Dreamgirl, Erin Nichols and Elian Royale, and Christian Simonson and Son of a Lady to a team bronze medal. Germany won gold with 216.372% with Denmark collecting silver on 215.196% and the U.S. rounding out the podium with 207.255%.

Germany Wins Hagen Future Champions Young Riders Team Competition, Denmark Silver, USA Bronze
Christian Simonson, based in Wellington, Florida, was the top placed USA rider on the 12-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding Son of a Lady on 69.951%.
Christian also rode Zeaball Diawind in the individual Young Rider competition for fourth place on 70.735%. -
US Equestrian Announces The Dutta Corp. U.S. Dressage Teams for Rotterdam CDIO4* and Aachen CDIO5*
In addition, two athlete-and-horse combinations will represent the U.S. in CDIY competition at CHIO Aachen World Equestrian Festival.
Erin Nichols (Yorba Linda, Calif.) and Handsome Rob AR, a 2012 Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Diane Nichols
Christian Simonson (Ventura, Calif.) and Son of a Lady, a 2011 Danish Warmblood gelding owned by Christina Morgan and Clifton Simonson
Simonson will also compete in the CDI1* with Zeaball Diawind, a 2012 Danish Warmblood gelding owned by Christina Morgan.
